Notice the Chinese Navy Museum on Collection of Cultural Relics

The Museum is about to open. In order to more properly protect, manage and use cultural relics of the navy, and thoroughly give play to the historical value and the function of patriotism education thereof, the Museum sincerely look forward to and welcome the enthusiastic donation and positive participation of the vast public.

1. Main Scope of Collection of Cultural Relics

The Museum is an integrated museum that could comprehensively reflect the history of Chinese PLA Navy. The cultural relics within the scope of collection include material objects, literatures, manuscripts, photos, videos, artworks and removable cultural relics that could reflect the sea, sea right, sea defense and the navy of various historical periods, are related to historical events, historical figures and historical traditions and have historical, artistic and scientific values.

2. Main Contents and Scope of Collection of Navy-related Cultural Relics

2.1 Navy-related Cultural Relics of China in Ancient and Modern Times

Armaments in kind, artworks and manuscripts etc. that could reflect the sea warfares and sea activities in ancient and modern times in China before 1919, as well as the remains and literatures etc. of important historical figures and other relevant cultural relics related to the sea and navy forces.

2.2 Cultural Relics of Chinese PLA Navy

Ever since the foundation of the Chinese Communist Party, especially since the establishment of the Chinese PLA Navy, water-borne military equipment of the people under the leading of the CCP and valuable cultural relics that have witnessed the development history of the Chinese PLA Navy; cultural relics related to major events, practices and drills organized by PLA or PLA Navy; inscriptions, signature and other handwritings granted by leaders of the Party, the state or troops when visiting the navy forces, as well as used objects, relevant photos, picture materials and other relevant cultural relics; working diary, learning records, photos, videos and other relevant cultural relics of important Navy leaders in the process of service; certificate of merit, medals and certificate of honor granted nationally to units or individuals, and relevant text or picture information and other relevant cultural relics;

3. Mode of Collection of Cultural Relics of the Museum

3.1 Voluntary donation: As for material objects and historical data collected by units or individuals, if the owners are willing to donate voluntarily through consultation, the certificate of collection or donation will be granted based on the historical value of such donated objects. At the time of exhibition before the public, the information of such units or individuals will be identified.

Armaments in kind, artworks and manuscripts etc. that could reflect the sea warfares and sea activities in ancient and modern times in China before 1919, as well as the remains and literatures etc. of important historical figures and other relevant cultural relics related to the sea and navy forces.

3.2 Collection with consignment: If the unit or individual is not willing to donate the cultural relics collected thereby and such objects are extremely necessary during exhibition, the mode of agreement-based consignment can be applied, under which, the Museum will be authorized for collection and exhibition accordingly.

3.3 Buying: As for original cultural relics with extremely high historical value, if the unit or individual with the ownership thereof is willing to provide such objects with pay, the Museum will organize experts of cultural relics for identification as per applicable regulations and buy such relics after the value thereof is confirmed.

3.4 Return upon duplication: For valuable collections whose owners are not willing to donate, consign or sell, upon the agreement of the unit or individual with the ownership thereof, the Museum will duplicate such relics and return the original one.
